It is your friendly site admin here.  I just wanted to start a thread here and let everyone know a bit about us and our Fire Piston business.

I found out about fire pistons at a primitive skills gathering.  I thought that they were one of the neatest things I had ever seen.  I have always been interested in the outdoors and this was my first gathering.  I made a long bow by hand with only hand tools.  It took like 45 hours but it was one of the best experiences I have had in a long time.

After I came home and was watching Survivorman.  I saw Les Stroud trying out a Fire Piston.  I remembered how much fun that they were and decided to start making them.  With the help of my business partner, Justin the machinist, Fire Poppers was born.  We really wanted to make affordable fire pistons for the masses.  Not that there isn't a place for the custom ones because there is, just that most people can't afford them.

So a little more about me.  I am a primitive skills nut.  Which totally contradicts with my web site design, graphic design and computer repair business.  I work for a major newspaper in prepress at night and do the computer stuff during the day.  When I have time to decompress the old ways are what truly interest me.

So if you came here looking for fire pistons hang around for a while and let us get to know the folks behind the need for FIRE.
